International Symposium 2016
"Animals: Cultural Identifiers in Ancient Societies?"

The ArchaeoBioCenter is pleased to announce its upcoming international symposium "Animals: Cultural Identifiers in Ancient Societies?" which will be held on April 4th–6th, 2016 in Munich.
The symposium will focus on the influence of animals as cultural identifiers in ancient societies from the perspective of a wide array of disciplines ranging from archaeozoology to art history. The symposium is divided into five sections that include presentations by approximately 45 international experts:
- Methodological considerations and innovative approaches
- Animals in everyday life
- Health care and therapy of medical disorders
- Animal domestication: biological and cultural implications
- Animals and their role in rituals, symbolism and cosmology
